Hair loss (baldness or androgenic alopecia)

In men, a collaboration between genetic and hormonal factors causes the development of androgenic alopecia or baldness, leading to hair loss.

There are several treatment options where the effectiveness varies from individual to individual. Certain medications like finasteride (also known as Proscar or Propecia) can improve the condition of baldness. In more advanced cases, some people will have hair transplants, but the procedure is invasive, expensive and painful.

PRP

PRP is a substance extracted from the blood by a complex process. It is possible to separate the components of the blood, isolate the plasma in it and increase its concentration in a solution. Plasma is very rich in growth factors, responsible for cell regeneration. After having recovered the component of the plasma enriched with platelets, it is applied to microneedled skin or it is injected directly into the tissues to be treated.

This is the treatment of choice for early baldness. The treatment consists of 3 sessions of around 40 minutes each month. The benefits are visible a few weeks after the last treatment. Maintenance treatment is adjusted according to the patient’s needs and generally only one annual session is required.
